The state of California is offering cash rebates of up to $2,600.00 per kilowatt hours toward the purchase of a solar electric system. Such a system has the capability of reducing or even elimination your monthly electric consumption. The system mounts on the roof of your home or place of business and is connected directly to your electric meter. While the sun is shining, the system will produce free electricity which is fed through your meter, causing it to slow down or spin backwards.

Because of California’s net metering law, the utility company is required to credit you back full retail for the power that you produce up to the amount that you consume.

In order to assist you with the application process we will need to know up to how much of your electric bill you would like to eliminate. To determine this we will  need to know what your average monthly consumption is in kilowatt hours for the past year. You can obtain this information by adding up your last twelve month’s electric bills and then divide that number by twelve. Another method would be to simply call your electric company and ask them to tell you what your average monthly consumption was for the past year.

Once we have your average monthly kilowatt hours number, it’s a simple matter to determine how many panels you would need to place on your roof, in order to accomplish your goal, whether that is to cut your bill in half, cut it by a quarter or eliminate it entirely.

Once you have decided upon an appropriate system for your needs, we will complete the application form for you which will then forwarded to the state. Within 2 to 3 weeks you will receive a reservation letter from the state which guarantees the amount of your cash rebate. The state will actually hold the rebate in your name for a period of nine months which provides you with sufficient time to purchase your system and finish your installation. Once you’ve completed your installation, you simply mail back your reservation letter along with evidence of the installation and within 30 to 45 days the state will mail you your rebate check.

You must be a customer of one of the following utility companies in order to qualify for this State sponsored program: Southern California SMUD and Pacific Gas & Electric.
